As mayor, I want to encourage more opportunities for residents to share their ideas, concerns, and hopes for Gold River.
I want our community conversations to include everyone — longtime residents, young families, seniors, workers, business owners, volunteers, newcomers, and the people who are just beginning to imagine their future here.
We may not always agree. That’s okay.

Together, we can build Gold River’s future
For 23 years, my family and I have called Gold River home. Like you, I have built relationships with most of you in our community. I have owned businesses, and I currently own a courier business and serve as a bi-vocational pastor of Westgate Church.
I desire to see those who have dreams and hopes for a prosperous future for Gold River come to pass. I believe our best days can still be ahead of us.
Four years on council has taught me a great deal about local government, the responsibilities we carry, and the difficult choices that sometimes must be made. But it has also taught me something just as important: no one person has all the answers. I don’t pretend to know everything, and I don’t believe a mayor should.
What I can promise is that I will listen. And I will work alongside council, village staff, residents, and businesses.
Working together
I want to build a respectful, meaningful relationship with our neighbouring First Nations, Mowachaht/Muchalaht.
There is an opportunity for us to work together in ways that strengthen both our communities — through economic opportunities, tourism, infrastructure, services, employment, local businesses, and shared initiatives. When we work together, we create possibilities that may not exist when we work separately.
Gold River has experienced tremendous change. We know what happens when a major economic foundation disappears. We have lived through difficult times, and those experiences should guide — not define — where we go next.
A healthier local economy
Our community has tremendous assets: our people, our natural environment, our location, our history, our businesses, our outdoor opportunities, our industrial lands, and our connection to Nootka Sound.
I want to help turn those assets into opportunity, with help from our new council:
- Attract responsible new investment and economic opportunities
- Support existing local businesses and entrepreneurs
- Strengthen tourism and outdoor recreation opportunities
- Advocate for infrastructure and services that support growth
- Look for partnerships with our First Nations, businesses, regional government, and senior levels of government
- Make sure Gold River is ready when new opportunities come to our door
